Below the Breaking Point

Below the Breaking Point

IF THIS BOOK SAVES JUST ONE LIFE, IT WAS WORTH IT.

“This is a story many overachievers, workaholics, and perfectionists need to hear—
especially those who have carried the burden of believing everything depends on them,
when God never asked them to carry it alone.”
— Lynette Entzian, PhD

“It was hard, it was raw… anyone that reads it will be able to relate. It’s real. I’m buying
one for everyone in my immediate family.”
— Lisa Stephens, RN

About me

I Turned My Experience
into a Story.

I carried a backup plan in my head for nearly fifty years. I called it The
101st Option. I thought everyone had one.

They don’t.

On August 22, 2025, I ran out of moves. The funding fell through. The payroll was
due. The bank had been sold. And the wiring I’d been carrying since childhood
was activated.

My wife found me in a parking garage in Annapolis.

I’m a survivor. A husband. A father. A farmer. Nearly fifty years in the
business. And I almost became a statistic.

This book is what happened next.

I wrote this book for three kinds of people: the one who’s struggling, the one who loves someone
who’s struggling, and the one who wants to understand how a guy like me ends
up in a parking garage with a plan. If you’re carrying something right now that you think no one else would
understand—you’re wrong.

Reviews

"Below the Breaking Point is a powerful and deeply personal memoir about resilience, hope, and finding a way forward after life's darkest moments. The author's honesty and vulnerability make this an emotional and inspiring read. It offers a raw look at the struggle to survive while also showing that healing and purpose are possible. A courageous story that will stay with me for a long time."

— Matt G.

"Below the Breaking Point is the author's courageous and honest telling of what brought him to attempt suicide and how it affected everyone and everything around him. He walks through the help he got following this attempt and how he continues to search for clarity in his life and for his loved ones. It is an honest and raw telling that if shared can help and impact others that may be experiencing the same issues and stressors in their lives. Highly recommend!"

“Raw. This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read and really puts the audience into Ray’s mindset.”

"Powerful story! I could not put it down. Ray writes from the heart. It’s raw and emotional, but gives inspiration to find the joy and blessings in our own lives. A story of finding the right balance between work, family and taking care of yourself. I am a long time customer of Greenstreet Garden’s. The author’s business. I live in the same area and I watched his garden tip videos on social media. I was stunned when I heard the news of his suicide attempt. We have never met in person, but I could not reconcile the image of the person in those videos who seemed so positive and upbeat, with someone who no longer wanted to live. This book answered my questions and gave me insight to a loving, caring man and a family who loves him. It has touched my soul and given me pause to reflect on my own blessings and what is important in my life."
